I don't know what I did before I used my Diva cup! It was the best $30 I've ever spent. I bought it 4 years ago and still have the same one; not a pad, tampon, etc. in the house! I did have to clip off the end of the stem, which seemed to stick out just a tiny bit too much for me. Also, if you are not comfortable with your own body this may not be the product for you - but that is something I recommend getting over anyway! :)

I am on my second day with my diva cup and am loving it! At first I could feel the stem and it felt like it was falling out so I tried cutting the stem off but that didn't help. I did some searches on it and found to try turning it inside out and it is perfect! I can not imagine using anything else!

Great post!

In regards to previous comment, to avoid confusion, I meant sanitizing hand wipes or sanitizing baby wipes, not hand sanitizer as some might misconstrue.

I have a friend who has used DivaCup for a year & LOVES it, & am recently considering one for myself.

In researching menstrual cups, I came upon a video on YouTube (http://youtu.be/vAKpyw-R-po) which covers a suggestion for discreet disposal & cleaning of menstrual cups in public restrooms. Dump the waste down the toilet and use sanitizing hand or baby wipes to clean & disinfect the cup before reinsertion.

I'm going to be picking my first one up soon, after a lot of reading and pondering. I wanted to do so several months ago, but just hadn't yet. As for the public bathroom situation, the Diva Cup website says you can empty it in the toilet, wipe it out with dry or damp tissue, and reinsert, then wash it later when you get home. I'm not sure what I think about that, but thought I'd pass it along. It's good to see more and more women willing to make the change to something that's better for our bodies and our planet.

I used a cup (can't remember the exact brand name) years ago when Whole Foods first started stocking them. I thought it was great - never uncomfortable, slipped right in once you read the instructions (fold, slip in, adjusts itself). I used it for about two years and over that time it only spilled once, and it only dirtied my underwear a tiny bit - no more than a leaky tampon would.

I lost mine, and went back to tampons - no real reason why. Other people made me feel wierd about it a little I guess. But I just had a TSS scare - and I am RUNNING to whole foods tomorrow to grab another cup. I highly recommend them.

As for the taking a cup to the sink situation described above - I just would dump mine in the toilet and if someone else was in the bathroom, I would put it in the holder and wash it later when I was alone. I carried two with me for that reason.

Mom...

get me one too.

love,
kelsey

p.s. I feel so guilty wasting that much cotton and wrapping, not to mention they clog up the (cheap) toilet in my apartment.
